Secure Login Updates

Staying one step ahead in secure login.

Your personal and account security is always our top priority.

At First Bank and Trust (FBT), we know that your account information is private and we strive to keep it that way. Beginning July 19, 2021, we are transitioning from a Multifactor Authentication (MFA) login to a token-based login for all Personal Online Banking accounts.

Upon your first login, you will receive a request to enter your home, mobile, and work phone numbers. These phone numbers will be used so your identity can be validated with a one-time passcode (token) delivered to you via SMS (text message) or voice phone call. The passcode will replace the security challenge questions previously used with MFA.

The new secure login takes into consideration your typical login behavior and history (geolocation, IP address, and browser information) to determine when you will be provided a one-time passcode to access your account.

  • If your login is typical (for example, you use the same personal computer every time you login),  you will continue to access your account as you normally do.
  • If you log in with a new device or from a different geographical location, you will be provided a one-time passcode, either via a SMS or voice call based upon the updated information you have provided to us.

The one-time passcode is only good for 5 minutes, will always be 6 digits long, and can only be entered one time. Once the passcode is entered correctly, you will move forward to accessing your accounts.
